I think it will be quite difficult to pick a "best" class for anything. ArenaNet is doing a great job designing it so every class has multiple uses depending weapons/skills/traits, etc. If you read the second part of the interview on GW2Hub main page, Jon Peters talks about interesting builds like the haste-rezzing thief that not even the developers anticipated but was playing a crucial role in PvP. I think if you pick the class that you best enjoy (mechanics, story, look, etc.) you will be able to find a combination of weapons and skills to excel at PvP.

Well I wouldn't think traits would make or break the class unless you chose to put points into a trait line that didn't mesh with your playstyle (i.e. you spent a lot of time in Earth attunement for elementals but you put points in water). So far it still seems to me that traits and skills are numerous and varied enough that you can supplement your desired playstyle. I'm sure eventually there will be builds that people claim are the "best" or "must have" but i doubt it will happen for a long time. The game is designed to be "play it your way" and I don't see ArenaNet deviating from that too much to make a certain trait/build/weapon set the de-facto king of PvP/PvE. In fact my guess is that they will work to balance out traits so there isn't a "perfect build."

The core part of any build will be your weapons, so you'll want to focus on those skills a bit more than traits in terms of determining which profession suits you best.
Otherwise, each profession has plenty of strengths and weaknesses, and tends to have a very distinct playstyle So your best bet is to ask yourself what you enjoy most in combat; things like melee vs. ranged, direct damage vs. DoTs, single target attacks vs. AoE etc. While some professions may incorporate a combination of each of those things, most tend to be much stronger in some areas than others.
Best class for PvP would be something that can´t play fair and in other ways is suited just for PvP so there is only 1 choice - Thief. Every game has its pain in the ass. Team fortress has for example spy class.
My personnal choice will be guardian because I´m pure PvE player and it´s best suited for explorations solo as far as I saw videos on youtube.
From what i've seen so far, the Engineer is going to be a badass.
At first, i thought it had way to little damage But after watching youtube videos
From, for example Teldo, i've seen that they are very strong But very difficult.
You need to stun, knockback your enemies and then kill them With conditions.
Though, the flamethrower needs a damagebuff (:P)

Play wich type of class you like more, that is the best class
I can tell you that Warriors will look cool, but other than that it depends on your personal preference and playstyle.

As others have said, it is important to find what class fits your style of play, then exploit the crap out of it!
