Its been difficult keeping this secret over the last week, knowing that a blog post would go live today announcing that both the Asura and Sylvari will be playable during the next Beta weekend. It's also been 10 months since I last played both races and I can't wait to get my hands on them once more. What I do find surprising is the fact that all five races will be playable and there has been no mention of a character wipe.
To also shed a little more light on the blog post, ArenaNet have confirmed to press that as part of the Beta program the new Guild-Conquest PvP map will be available; I just can't wait to try it.
On a side note, make sure you keep an eye out on GW2Hub over the next few days as we've got thousands of Beta keys to give away.

I find the fact that there's been no mention of a character wipe intriguing, too. I think I'd actually prefer a character wipe, though, because I'm playing a human ranger and I wanted to roll Sylvari. Without the wipe, I'll be tempted to just keep going with the character I've got. (Although, I suppose that's not necessarily a bad thing--she's cool.)
Anyone else planning to avoid playing Asura or Sylvari during the last BWE just to keep things fresh for launch? (Although, if there's no character wipe, this is sort of a moot point.)

I will wipe a couple characters to make room for an Asura and a Sylvari. I won't do much, because I want to keep things fresh. I am mainly interested in seeing what class changes have come about since last BWE. I actually plan on spending some time doing cooking, and maybe some PVE with various friends.
Still doubting between the class and the race a bit (although I'm 90% sure I'll roll Ranger first now). So I'm likely going to just get a feel for the asuran and sylvari race (animations / "lore feeling" / starter zone); and then I might go back to some sPvP to get a feel for the class.
I feel that any time spend leveling is mostly for naught anyway. I prefer to use this time to just get my stuff ready for the real thing; of course I did do some questing but didn't go past level 10. Rest of the time I spend in sPvP as thats where most classes come to their right.
Wanted to do some WvW but our server is steamrolling annoyingly fast. Desolation conquered all of WvWvW in roughly 4 hours after the start of the last BWE and didn't lose ground since, as there was hardly any resistance. Which makes WvW just an empty boring world really :(
1 thing is certain though. Asura and Sylvari starter zones will be a massive lagfest
IMO Asura animations look terrific. I will make one based solely on that. Besides, who doesn't want their very own lab?
I decided a bit ago that I would pass on Sylvarri and Asura in BWE3. I only have to wait another month for the full game and I see no reason to get started on a character that will just get wiped right away anyway. Instead, I'm gonna concentrate on either my ele or my ranger, getting them a full set of crafted armor, I'm thinking, and then taking it into the mist to try out wvw for the first time. It should be, to say the least, interesting.
I actually wouldn't mind if it was already completely owned by my server...its the exploration elements of wvw that I'm more interested in seeing at the moment. The actual seige warfare and stuff can wait till I'm at least more comfortable with the map and areas and stuff.
