As a second piece of news this morning, arising from many players concerned their Halloween event will be cut short due to cyclone Sandy, Martin Kirstein announced late last night that although the event won’t be extended (your safety is more important than a game) on November 15th they are preparing to deliver a big content update. As to what that content update involves, there are no clues. However, I expect speculation to be rife over the coming days with any individuals on Guild Wars 2 Hub who get it right, receiving a life time supply of Mountain Dew*.
Personally, I’m hoping for a whole host of profession bug squashing, refinements to dungeons (including better loot tables) a change to the method in which precursors can be obtained, refinements to the tournament structure in the form of balance changes as well as new methods of banning those pesky bots. Not much then.
You can find the original quote below, or here.
We heard your questions about extending the Halloween event for those of you affected by Sandy. Unfortunately we cannot do that, but the reason why we can’t is exciting: We are preparing for our big November update, which will start on November 15, and there will be content that will be in the game prior to that, leading up to the event. But we also want to use this moment to remind you all that your personal safety is much more important than any computer game. If you could be affected by the storm, please listen to the authorities and take every precaution to ensure you and your loved ones are safe. Tyria will still be there once the storm is over.
*Not true :(

How in Pepsi's holy name do you get "Mountain Dew" wrong? BLASPHEMER! UNBELIEVER! OTHER THINGS!
Haha, it's how it's spelt in the United Kingdom :( I'm drinking a bottle of it right now! (edit: it is also made by Britvic here in the UK)
Also it's made by Britvic because PepsiCo awarded Britvic a bottling agreement (EBA) to produce and sell the drink. The brand is still owned by PepsiCo. An agreement like this is very beneficial as it allows a company to enter into a foreign market without the additional costs of entering into that market, and yet they still make a profit.
I love how a news article on Guild Wars 2 content has descended into a Wikipedia breakdown of Mountain Dew. Thank you for that Bane, it's always nice to know who bottles my luminous green soft drinks ;)
I want to be able to punch Jormag right in the face. Just set up a catapult on one of those airships, launch me at him and "ASURA PUUUUUNCH!". Or I'd just get eaten....getting eaten seems more likely.
According to a post by Jon on the official forums there will be a pretty major update for Rangers. They're revamping a lot of utilities (signets / spirits / shouts) to be more useful; and they would also look at the weapon sets.
That's the only thing I've heard about the next patch so far.
