There will be another stress test open to pre-purchase customers today (August 10th), this time running from 4:00 PM PACIFIC Time to 8:00 PM PACIFIC Time. The usual disclaimer applies, so keep in mind that this is indeed a stress test and the ArenaNet team will be actively working on the game during the event.
Given the rough start to the event yesterday, I somewhat anticipated we'd be seeing at least one more stress test prior to the head start weekend that kicks off in just under two weeks. Hopefully these back-to-back stress tests are giving the team plenty of data to help insure the head-start and official launch go off without a hitch!
For the morbidly curious, the original announcement for yesterday's stress test can be found below...
------------
If you didn't already hear the news via the official Guild Wars 2 Facebook page, there will be another stress test today from 12:00 Noon PACIFIC Time to 4:00 PM PACIFIC Time. As with the previous stress test, this one will be open to anyone who pre-purchased the game, but be warned that the team will also once again be actively working on the game for the duration of the test.
The official info about the stress test is as follows:
We will be conducting a stress test on Thursday, August 9 from 12:00 Noon PACIFIC Time to 4:00 PM PACIFIC Time.
The stress test is open to anyone who has pre-purchased Guild Wars 2.
We will be actively working on the game during the event, so you might experience connectivity problems or discover features that are not working as designed. Any issues you experience are a result of the rigorous conditions of the stress test, and are in no way representative of the state of the game at launch. By participating in this stress test, you’re helping us make Guild Wars 2 a better game. Thanks for your cooperation—we’ll see you in-game!
This is obviously great news for those of you out there like myself who are itching to get back into the game. While a brief testing period, it both helps the ArenaNet team insure that the game is in great shape for launch, and gives eager fans another chance to scamper around Tyria for a few more hours before the head start kicks off in two weeks.
In the meantime, hopefully ArenaNet will also work out a more centralized location to disseminate important announcements like the one for Today's stress test. While I personally don't mind following the official game site, forums, developer site, Twitter feed, Facebook page, Reddit, or anywhere else important info keeps popping up, it's a bit taxing on your fans to expect them to pay attention to so many sources of official news.

Thankyou for posting this. I've missed the previous stress tests as I watch the community a lot more than the actual Anet boards. Perhaps I should be starting to considering the number of tests? ^.^
1:07 later and I still can't login, boooooo!
I'm a master baiter!
Yeah, there was a rough start to this one for sure, but it felt like a true stress test this time. Hopefully Anet got some good data to help the launch go smoothly. :)
Thanks for the post! I got some valuable WVW and sPvP in today. Fine tuned my ranger sPvP build and tried my Engineer in WvW. What a blast.
Rough start, but did thoroughly enjoy the sPvP I got in on ranger tonight.
I agree with you, Barlow. A centralized, official location for important updates to be announced first at would be nice. It took me a while to find all the spots I needed to check, when I really started following GW2 news.
Just a tip for those who struggle or don't want to follow the whole pack of GW2 news sources out there. Twitter and Facebook in my experience have been the best to follow for important updates. Either like the GW2 facbook page and check it regularly or follow the GW2 twitter and the personal twitters of AreaNet employees and leading GW2 community site twitters like GuildMag or Arena Junkies and your bound to hear about the big news as or close to when it is initially announced.
I get the vast majority of my GW2 info from Twitter. Anet do a great job of updating you on everything via it.
Also, another stress test tonight (10th August) 4pm - 8pm Pacific time (midnight - 4am BST / UK time).
You can always follow us on Twitter, especially the Ten Ton Hammer one for updates. ArenaNet are quick at updating theirs. Or visit us here :) I played in tournaments all night, its the first time they worked flawlessly.
The game played well for me yesterday, aside from a few drops to desktop. I think I felt a performance gain for my low end system, but there were some really bad graphical glitches (like the entire ground in WvW turning into a bright laser grid, and texture errors on gates). None of these glitches were permanent but they were glaring.
Aug. 10 stress test was rough due to latency. I must have been one of the people affected by their Internet issue. sPvP with my ranger was a blast. Tweaked my build some more and toughed-out the lag.
I had no latency issues which was even odder considering we had a 70mph storm blow through. If you have not experienced a storm in Texas, its like nothing we have ever seen... I am still getting some blue screen pops and tears since the last two stress tests and others are confirming this as well.
I finally got a bow for my warrior and I am having more fun with this game than any MMO I have played in years. It's actually fun and does not even come close to feeling like a grind to me. Anet hit a home run as far as I am concerned.
Its a simple world for complicated people
